Henrici II. Galliarum Regis Elogium, cum eius verissime expressa Effigie, Petro Paschalio autore. Eiusdem Henrici Tumulus autore eodem. Paris, Michel Vascosan, 1560. 4°. 19 p., 6 unnum. Leaves, 14 pp., 1 leaf, 16 pp. (without the 7 leaves with the Spanish translation of the "Elogium" and the last white leaf). With 1 engraved portrait, 1 very finely engraved woodcut on a large leaf depicting the tomb with the Gisant, 9 woodcut borders (composed of two pieces) as text borders as well as 2 en tête vignettes and 4 initials. Modern half marocco binding with gilt-stamped spine title. Mortimer 416, Pettegree & Walsby 42218 (2 copies) and 42219 (3 copies). First edition of the poem in praise of King Henry II, who died in July 1559 from fatal wounds received during a tournament on the "Place des Vosges". The Latin text of the "Elogium" is followed by the 6 unnum. Leaf with the "Tumulus", which shows the project for a tomb for the king - allegedly by Jean Cousin - and the planned eight inscriptions. The "Tumulus" is followed by the French translation of the "Elogium" by Lancelot de Carles and the Italian translation by Antonio Caracciolo; however, the Spanish translation by Garcia Sylves is missing.
