for Höroldt chinoiseries. Pattern sheets from the painting room of the Meissen porcelain manufactory (Schulz Codex). Commentary by R. Behrends. Text volume and 2 plate cassettes. Mchn., Idion (1978). Gr.fol. with 132 col. Dark brown original hongan silk binding with 2 Meissen porcelain spine plaques with gilding in slipcase. (Somewhat worn, partly somewhat faded). One of 1500 (500 of which for the Leipzig edition) copies. The facsimile plates loose in the cassettes. Produced after the original sheets in the possession of the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Leipzig. - G. Höroldt is considered the creator of European porcelain painting. During his work in Meissen 1720-65, he developed numerous colors and types of painting on Meissen porcelain, the sketches of which have been lavishly reproduced in the present work.
