IV/1, 405; Münker 417; Redlich 702; Seifert 663 - First illegitimate edition, so-called Schwickerian reprint of Lessing's famous journal with theater criticism and literary-theoretical reflections, which were groundbreaking for the German-language stage. The first edition was published between 1767 and 1769 in Lessing's Hamburg print shop on the Binnenalster, which he ran together with Bode. Schwickert's involvement as a reprinter meant that Lessing's Hamburgische Dramaturgie was only available in a mutilated form and Lessing abandoned his project as publisher prematurely. At the end of volume II, under the title Intermezzo, the biting reply of the reprinter, disguised as J. Dodsley, to Lessing's criticism of the reprint in the original edition. - Partly slightly stained and browned.
