Six sketchbooks. 8 x 17 cm. Numbered: Vol. 2 to Vol. 7. 796 painted pages with several thousand pen and ink drawings and watercolor sketches. Volumes 3, 4, 6, and 7 with Art Nouveau ornaments. In volume 2 and partly in volume 5 sketches for architecture, furniture, chandeliers, crowns, weapons, iron grilles, railings, vessels, musical instruments, ex-libris, flowers, leaves and animals. All volumes with Pickford Waller bookplates and artist's monogram at the end, various individual sheets monogrammed. Marbled endpapers, all-round gilt edges, leather spine with gilt embossing. All volumes by the London bookbinder Joseph William Zaehnsdorf, son of Josef Zaehnsdorf. Volume IV slightly stained in places. - Waller, draughtsman, draftsman, illustrator, designer, art collector. Son of the master builder Robert John Waller. Worked on several books for the Pear Tree Press. Close friend of James Abbott McNeill Whistler. Sketchbooks in the London National Art Library, Victoria and Albert Museum. D
