BEAUTIFUL REDUCED MODEL OF THE EIFFEL TOWER Cut mahogany-stained wood with openwork latticework and poly-lobed motifs. The platforms feature an openwork floor decorated with quatrefoils. The neo-Moorish balustrades on the first and second platforms feature the coat-of-arms of the City of Paris surmounted by the crown of Cybele. The balustrade of the first platform features a circular space decorated with a crown of quartefeuille, housing the dial and movement of a clock. The monument is crowned by a gazebo with three-lobed arches. This type of scale model was offered to visitors to the Exposition Universelle who were discovering the Eiffel Tower. c. 1889.
