This type of mirror was designed by Henri Pacon for the compartments of certain series of Y-type sleeper cars from 1931.
A decorator, designer and architect, Henri Pacon first specialized in domestic architecture and decoration. He took part in the Pavillon de la revue Art & Décoration at the 1925 Exposition internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels modernes. In 1926, he created an agency that withstood the crisis of the 1930s, thanks to numerous commissions from Raoul Dautry, Managing Director of the French State Railways from 1928 to 1937. He rebuilt or refurbished numerous stations, including Le Havre in 1932, and designed railway equipment (locomotives, carriages). He took part in the fitting-out of prestigious liners, such as the Île de France in 1926 and the Normandie in 1932, where he distinguished himself in the design of the dining room, boarding hall, swimming pool, chapel and more.
