SOMMEVOIRE FONTAINE COLONNE DITE "WALLACE" PREMIER MODÈLE, PARIS Green-painted cast iron of square cross-section, the front adorned with reed branches, the lower part with a frieze of reeds and acanthus leaves, the upper part with a frieze of water leaves and crowned with a gadrooned plume. Marked "G.H.M. Sommevoire" (formerly Durenne) on the back. Free-standing cast-iron square drain grate. c. 1950. Model from the 2nd quarter of the 19th century. Height. 130 cm; Width. 31 cm; Depth. 31 cm. While 95 Wallace fountains of the large caryatid model exist in Paris, there are now only 21 fountains of the type shown here.
