A SATSUMA 'WARRIORS' SQUARE POT POSSIBLY BY HО̄ZAN 寶山 Japan, Meiji period Richly adorned in gilt and polychrome enamels with four scenes, one for each side, mostly depicting warriors i.e. samuraïs and old sages. Inscribed with a mark in gold within a black square to the below with the name of the artist possibly reading as Hōzan 寶山. Old collector label to the below reading Collection Rabeuf 25. H: 12.4cm Provenance: Former collection Rabeuf, nr. 25 (according to label). Note: This piece is linked to the collection of Mr. Rabeuf of Amiens, France, which was almost sold in its entirety at public auction back in 1909/03/02-03 by MM. Gontier and Tiéfaine.
