Antique ostrich egg decorated in India ink and depicting anatomical skull, probably a symbol predating the famous "Jolly Roger." England, 18th cent. . . Cm 26. The object, with its pertinent gilt bronze base depicting dolphins in the Baroque style, comes from an English family, which testifies that it was brought by a Dutch pirate ship after a voyage to Africa.
