FRANCE. Mle An IX flintlock pommel pistol made by the Manufacture de Saint-Etienne (faded marking on lock). Iron and brass fittings marked with the hallmark of Joseph GUICHARD (appointed controller in 1802). The mark of Antoine BLACHON (controller between 1798 and 1812) is affixed to the stock at the rear of the lock. Good cosmetic condition. Sold with its ramrod. Smooth bore 17.1 mm caliber. Overall length: 35.2 cm. Category D. (surface oxidation; a small chip on the stock at basinet level; damaged mouthpiece spring).
