Philippe Cayeux, a master sculptor in Paris specializing in wooden ornaments, was an officer of the Académie de Saint-Luc and an eminent collector of paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints.
We know of a remarkable pastel by
Perroneau in a private collection (Fig. 1.), which depicts the household of Philippe Cayeux and his wife, whose features we find in our grisaille portraits.
