Mélodrame en feuilletons (165 issues) published in "Le Petit parisien", about the 1870 War: revenge for the hero who returns under a new identity... by French novelist Jules Mary (1851-1922). Binding faded and slightly rubbed, some foxing. -Alexandre DUMAS. The Count of Monte Christo. One of the 19th century reprints. Fort in-8, modest green half basane, gilt title, title pages missing, black illus. in-t. in-t., some leaves restored, spine faded. -LERMINA Jules. Le Fils de Monte Christo. Paris, Boulanger, (1881). First printing. Complete with four parts in 99 issues, each illustrated with an engraving, 2-column text, black illustrations. Contemporary black half-basane, large in-8 format, smooth spine, gilt fillets and roulettes, gilt title, (4)-XI-776-(2) pp, 2 engraved frontispiece portraits (Lermina and Dumas), a facsimile of a letter by Dumas. Intended as a sequel to Monte Christo: after relentless vengeance and redemption, the Count will devote his wealth to the happiness of mankind...
