INTERESTING HISTORICAL PIECE in which Baron de DAMAS (1785-1862) addresses Marshal MARMONT, Duke of Ragusa, the list of persons to accompany him during his extraordinary embassy to Russia for the coronation of Tsar Nicholas 1st. Baron de DAMAS enjoyed a brilliant military career in the service of Tsar Alexander, before joining the French army during the Restoration. ATTACHED: DAMAS (Anne, Baron de). LETTER SIGNED "Le B.[ar]on de Damas" addressed to "Monsieur le Maréchal", located and dated "Paris le 23 septembre 1826". 1 p. ¼ on a double f. (32 X 20 cm). LETTER in which Baron de DAMAS congratulates Marshal MARMONT on his embassy to Russia: "His Majesty is fully satisfied with the manner in which you have represented Him in the brilliant circumstances in the midst of which He has deigned to send you. She has seen with particular satisfaction the flattering distinctions of which the Emperor Nicholas has made you the object several times [etc.]." SET OF 2 AUTOGRAPHS.
