Cundier. 3 title pages in red and black with a vignette depicting the coat of arms of the Counts of Provence surrounded by two allegorical figures. In-text illustrations including Bozon, first King of Arles, coats of arms, seals, etc. Bands in Volume I. Bandeaux, culs-de-lampe and Lettrines. Rare ORIGINAL EDITION, to be considered the first true History of Provence. Old armorial bookplate ("Per Elo") 1 modern bookplate. Very good condition, binding very well restored by Paul Blocteur (Toulon). Light old staining over most of volumes 1 and 2, more pronounced on the 30pp of the "Additions and Corrections" in volume 1. Small loss at bottom margin of pages 383-384. The two large folding maps are missing.
