Labiano/Desert Star. Original plate #22 from album T3 illustrating a scene in the rain masterfully executed by the artist. India ink circa 2016. TBE+. Quality framing included: 55 X 75 cm Hugues Labiano (1963) is a French cartoonist who began his career in Spain, creating "Matador" (Glénat, 1992), a series written by Gani Jakupi. He then returned to his true passion with "Dixie road" (Dargaud, 1997), with Jean Dufaux, and "Mister George" (Le Lombard, 2003), with Rodolphe and Serge Le Tendre. It's hard to pigeonhole Labiano's graphic style: while his drawing does lean towards a certain realism, he's always willing to distort it a little, the better to accentuate the emotion of a face or dare to use atypical framing. After a decade spent drawing the United States of yesterday and today, Labiano is looking for a change of scenery. In 2005, Stephen Desberg invited him to explore the best of both worlds in "Black OP" (Dargaud), a series about CIA agents whose work takes them from India to Afghanistan, via Russia. The adventure came to an end in 2010, with the publication of volume 6... only to resume in 2014, with the start of a second cycle! In 2012, Labiano signed the two episodes of "Quatre coins du monde" (Dargaud) on his own. In 2016, he masterfully resumes the adventure of "L'Etoile du Désert", alongside Stephen Desberg, with the publication of T3 and T4 of the series, which is presented as a prequel to the original diptych.
