Now based in St Quentin in the Gard region of France, he has published Bad Atmosphère, again with Paquet, and Instinct Sauvage under the Kstr label of Casterman. His latest travelogue, Retour du Tchad (BAB), follows in the footsteps of André Gide along the Chari and Logone rivers. For Casterman, he has produced a 3-volume adaptation of Amin Maalouf's novel Le Périple de Baldassare, which this time takes us to the territories of the Middle East. Joël Alessandra regularly travels abroad, particularly to Africa, to give talks at cultural centers and Alliances Françaises. He is also a contributor to numerous collective albums published by Petit à Petit, illustrates for the advertising and communications industries, and works on numerous web-documentaries combining comics and reportage.
