Francis A. "Fran" Matera (1924-2012) was an American comic book artist. He is best known for the strip "Steve Roper and Mike Nomad" published by King Features Syndicate from 1984 to 2004. Alongside his newspaper strips, Matera drew a lot of comics! Most notably for Charlton comics. His most influential artists were Hal Foster, Alex Raymond, Milton Caniff, Al Capp and Bud Fisher. Matera inked Ron Wilson's drawings for Marvel's "Hulk", as well as those of Sal Buscema.
