After studying Greco-Latin humanities in Seraing, he first published in the 1965 issue of Spirou, and in 1966 obtained a diploma in graphic arts in advertising and illustration from the École supérieure des arts Saint-Luc in Liège. In 1967, he collaborated with Mittéï and Édouard Aidans for Tintin and with Michel Greg for Pif. For La Wallonie, he produced Yves Saint-Georges in realistic style and Puppy in humorous style. The same year he produced a mini-story for Spirou entitled Les Plus Laides Histoires de l'oncle Pierre - Le Cheval de trois. In 1969, he created Charlequin and Benjamin for Tintin. In 1975, based on an idea by Greg, he created the spin-off series Les Aventures de Papa Talon, first published in Achille Talon magazine. Four episodes were produced and published in this quarterly. They were reprinted in an album entitled Pour quelques canettes de plus by MC Productions in 1988. This album was reissued by Soleil with a new cover illustration in 1992. In 2021, he was awarded the North Sea Prize at the Knokke-Heist Festival.
