Mariette RICHARD-BOUDET (1894-XXth century). Macao. Graphite pencil and watercolor on paper signed upper left in blue ink, dated 1941 and titled on reverse. Dimensions (as seen): 28.5x18.5 cm. (yellowing). Orientalist, Arabist. She exhibited views of Morocco at the Galerie Georges Petit in Paris in 1929. Wife of archivist-paleographer Paul Boudet (1888-1948), who arrived in Hanoi in March 1917 as a boarder at the EFEO. He soon resigned to accept a position as director of the new Indochina Archives and Library Service, in December of that year. He organized filing systems, oversaw the construction of an archive building and developed a curriculum to train qualified personnel. He was also director of the magazine Extrême-Asie, which, founded in 1924, merged with the Revue Indochinoise in 1926. He organized and directed the Société de géographie, which published, among other works, R.P.Cadière's Croyances et pratiques religieuses des Annamites in 1922.
