Andy Warhol (1928-1987). Rare and complete suite of 10 offset serigraphs from the "Endangered Species" series on Lenox Museum board paper, including "African Elephant", "Pine Barrens Treefrog", "Giant Panda", "Bald Eagle", "Siberian Tiger", "San Francisco Sliverspot Butterfly", "Orangutan", "Orangutan", and "Siberian Tiger Giant Panda", "Bald Eagle", "Siberian Tiger", "San Francisco Sliverspot Butterfly", "Orangutan", "Grevy's Zebra", "Black Rhinoceros" and "American Ram". Each sheet is stamped on the back with "Andy Warhol 1983 - Publisher Ronald Feldman Fine arts. Inc. New-York", "For exhibition and gift only - Not for sale - Offset edition out of the series -Property of Andy Warhol Factory" and that of the La Bertesca gallery in Genoa. There is also a dry stamp. Unsigned, unjustified.

As its name suggests, "Endangered Species" contains portraits of animals on the brink of extinction due to habitat destruction and other human causes. In 1983, Warhol was commissioned by publisher Ron Feldman, an active activist and philanthropist, to create this series in order to raise awareness.
