Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo (Venice, 1727-1804)
Biblical scene.
Tempera on paper. Giandomenico's life and work is marked by the influence of his father, Giambattista Tiepolo. He entered his father's workshop at an early date and did not leave it until his father's death, when his pictorial style developed. Although he kept his father's decorative influence, he moved away from his spatial fantasy and started a more realistic representation. His work evolved from the religious and mythological themes of his father to a more secular style. He had great skill in drawing which, together with engraving, is an inescapable part of his production.
