According to its former owner, the tapa belonged to Queen Pomaré IV (1813-1877), whose real name was Aïmata, the last queen of Tahiti.
Provenance :
-Former collection of Maurice Villaret, a doctor who lived on an island in Tahiti (then by descent).
-Former collection of Monsieur Bernard Villaret (1909-2006), known as "Foulque", writer, painter and doctor.
