Ibis mummy The bird is positioned with its head raised and its beak pointed towards its tail. The strips of linen mirror the animal's position. Bones and linen strips. Egypt, Late Period to Ptolemaic Period (712-30 B.C.) Length: 30 cm The white ibis, wild and not farmed, was particularly sacred at Touna El Gebel, where no fewer than four million ibis mummies have been found.
