Kindjal Ottoman dagger, Turkey, possibly Saphrampolis, 19th century
Straight, double-edged steel blade with molded decoration of fleurons and a central ridge, the curved handle made of walrus ivory plates marked with two metal rosettes with coral cabochons, the tang of pearl silver. Wooden scabbard plated with cast silver and chased with floral decoration, both ends decorated with striated coral cabochons.
Total length: 54 cm; length without scabbard: 49 cm
Oxidation, one coral cabochon missing, lifts and small accidents, metal beads missing.
