Powder flask, Ottoman Balkans, 19th century
Carved wooden flask decorated with plaques, small brass studs and mosaic elements, the wood highlighted with green polychrome. A few Arabic words are visible in the geometric decoration, including the owner's name "Mustafâ". Turned wood mouthpiece and metal suspension ring.
Length : 23 cm
Worn, cap missing.
A similar powder flask attributed to the 17th century is preserved in the Istanbul Maritime Museum.
