Nezâmî Ganjavî (1141-1209), Eskandar Nâmeh or Book of Alexander lithographed, Iran qâjâr, Tehran, dated 1273-74 H / 1856-1857 Printed paper work with 39 lines of text in black ink in Persian nasta'liq, a few phrases in the body of the text in larger type and a few marginal notes. The text is divided into seven volumes, introduced and completed by an engraving giving the name of Nâser ed-Din Shâh Qâjâr in a shamseh. Some shamseh also quote Aga Mîrza and situate the printing in Teheran. At the end of each volume, colophon giving the printing date of 1273 H or 1274 H. Throughout the text, numerous lithographed illustrations in black and white, some signed by Mîrza Hassan. Green leather binding with stamped decoration of a poly-lobed medallion decorated with birds, two fleurons on either side. Binding size: 36.9 x 23.5 cm Binding boards detached and worn with a few wormholes, stains, small tears, folds, folios detaching. The Eskandar Nâmeh is the poetic version of the life of Alexander the Great, put into verse by the Persian poet Nezâmî Ganjavî (1141-1209). It forms one of the five parts of his famous Khamseh.
