Marriage certificate, Iran qâjâr, 19th century
Ink, gouache, gold and silver on paper, 13-line certificate in Persian nasta'liq in cartouches surmounted by a sarlow frontispiece with illuminated lambrequin decoration, preceded by three cartouches with gold or silver background, the first inscribed with the Bismillah. The text is surrounded by several decorative borders, and in the last cartouche, the date of the certificate, in the month of Jumada I, the year illegible.

Brought back from Iran in the 1960s/70s by the owner's parents.
