This famous scene from Persian literature comes from the poem Khosrow and Shirîn from Nezâmî's Khamseh. It inspired many tile makers of the Qâjâr period. A very similar tile in the Louvre Museum (UCAD 32499) is attributed to Teheran workshops circa 1870-80.
