Two Koran folios, Iran, late 15th or early 16th century Two double-sided leaves handwritten on paper with 11 lines of text per page in naskhi Arabic in black ink, some characters in red ink. One leaf contains the beginning of Sura LXXIX, verses 1 to 35 (incomplete), the second, which is linked to it by a restoration, verses 9 to 37 (incomplete) of the preceding sura. Sura an-Nazi'at preceded by a cartouche illuminated in gold and polychrome. The verses are separated by gold discs and several illuminated medallions adorn the margins. Total dimensions: 14.7 x 17.8 cm As is, with restorations, chips and wear. A second double-folio of an Arabic prayer book with a gold-illuminated title is included. Provenance : Collection of M.
