Seventeen juz volumes of a Koran, Iran qâjâr, bearing the dates 1914-1915
17 volumes of 11 pages handwritten on paper with lines of text in naskhi Arabic in cartouches separated by colored lines. Most volumes introduced by one or two gold-illuminated cartouches containing a sura title and its first verse or the Ta'awwudh formula. Each volume dated by another hand 1333 H / 1914 or 1334 H / 1915, the date sometimes accompanied by Ja'far Sanî's name. At the end of each volume, a multi-lobed gilt mandorla with appendages containing the Du'a' Khatm al-Qur'an prayer. Bound in black leather with embossed decoration of a poly-lobed mandorla with appendices decorated with foliage.
Size of bindings: approx. 22 x 15 cm
As is, heavy wear and accidents, first pages pasted on the binding cover.
