Two signed calligraphic compositions, Iran qâjâr, 19th century
Calligraphies on Persian nasta'liq paper in black ink, mounted on album pages. The first, of the gulzar type, of two monumental handwritten lines in poly-lobed reserves with a gilded vegetal semiset set against a gilded background. Signed lower left Mohammad Hossein; the second, a little later, a siyâh mashq calligraphy exercise, with multidirectional lines, signed Mirzâ Mohammad Rezâ Kalhor and sealed.
Dim. calligraphies: 21.7 x 29.2 cm, 18.5 x 32 cm; dim. total: 24.7 x 32.5 cm and 22.7 x 35.3 cm
The first is damaged and restored, the second has small stains and missing edges.
