Calligraphic composition depicting a flower, Iran, dated 1945 and signed Zarrîn Qalam Shîrâzî Black ink on paper depicting a stylized flower in full bloom beneath an arcature with abundantly flowered spandrels. The heart of the flower is entirely calligraphed with Koranic suras in cursive Arabic. On either side of the leaves flanking the flower, the name of the calligrapher Ebrâhîm Zarrîn Qalam Shîrâzî on the right and the date 1365 H / 1945 in full. Framed with several gilded and colored borders. Sight size: 14.3 x 9.7 cm Slight foxing. Collection of M. Mohajer Mîrza Ebrâhîm Asemi Zanjanî (1905-94), known as Zarrîn Qalam "The Golden Pen", was an Iranian calligrapher and diplomat. A grandmaster of nasta'liq and ta'liq shekaste, he was an eminent teacher of calligraphy. He also embarked on a political career, serving as an employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then as deputy to the Iranian Pahlavi government's embassy in Iraq from 1951 to 1969.
