Chemla et fils, Moïse Chemla (1897-1977), dish with geometric decoration, Tunisia, dated 1366 H / 1946 Circular earthenware dish with polychrome painted decoration of a geometric composition of green cartouches containing floral motifs on a background of purplish rosettes, a frieze of palmettes unfolding on the green background of the border. On the back, piece located in Tunis, dated 1366 H / 1946 and signed "Awlad Chemla" (Chemla et Fils), the workshop name accompanied by a fish motif, mark of Moïse or Mouche Chemla. Diameter: 35.7 cm Substantial edge chips, small repaints, two suspension holes at the heel. A cylindrical goblet with floral and geometric decoration by Moïse Chemla, whose initials M. C are inscribed under the base with his fish mark. H. 14 cm, chip at lip. The dish features a decoration known from Ottoman ceramics from Iznik, as on a dish in the Louvre Museum (AD 8062).
