Indian Jain sculpture in black marble depicting a non-identifiable Jina, with the typical Jina features INDIA / GUJARAT - possibly 15th/16th Century Jain sculpture in black marble depicting a (non-identifiable) Jina, seated in dhyanasana (meditation or lotus position) with hands in dhyana mudra - height and width : 77 and 70 cm Although simple in execution, all Jina features are here reproduced exactly: the wide-open eyes, the bulbous curls of hair with the small cranial elevation ("ushnisha"), the long earlobes, the 3 pleats in the neck, a pronounced breast jewel and firm hands and feet
