In-12° full contemporary calf, 1 ff, (title), 4 ff. for the dedicatory epistle and approval, 1 ff. for the table of contents and errata, 195 pp. Initials "D.B." on title page. Rare partly original edition and first under this title of this text published in 1747 (under that of Memnon ou Histoire orientale). "Zadig" has more chapters XI (the supper), XII (the rendezvous) and XIV (the fisherman) than Memnon. It is dedicated by "Sadi" to the "Sultane Shéraa", a pseudonym for the Marquise de Pompadour.
