In-8° contemporary half marbled basane with small corners, 3 ff. 499, 484, 400, 411, 408 pp. Very rare first edition on wove paper. Quérard erroneously reports the first edition in 1805 (Tourneux 20939). This bibliographer states: "When the work appeared, the author sent a copy to the head of the government. Despite this precaution, the work was seized in 1808, and the author confined to Bicètre". For this reason, the first edition is rare. Stamp "Bibliothek Haltenbergstetten" on the title page. Worm damage along the spine ends of three volumes, more extensive in volume 4, but not detrimental to solidity.
