Each photograph is annotated in ink on the spine. This handsome album, arranged chronologically, provides an accurate account of the daily life of a family from Nantes (Mauves-sur-Loire) at the dawn of the First World War. Louis Portier, Captain in the 161st Infantry Regiment, died of his wounds on October 4, 1914 at the Commercy mixed hospital.
