Baron Gerard's 1811 painting is held in the Musée National du Château de Fontainebleau. Jérôme-Napoléon Bonaparte (1784-1860) was the last brother of Napoleon 1st. He was crowned King of Westphalia by the Emperor in 1807. He distinguished himself militarily during Napoleon's last campaign, at the Battle of Waterloo. Under the Second Empire, he was appointed Marshal of France and presided over the Senate.
We would like to thank Mr. Alain Latreille for sharing his opinion with us: "All these ricordi were produced in the painter's studio under his supervision and sometimes retouched, and are comparable with the set kept at the Château de Versailles, purchased by King Louis-Philippe's civil list at the sale after the painter's death in 1837".
