Rare Renaissance folding knife with finely carved ivory handle, engraved and partly gilded steel blade, silver ring. Handle in the shape of a nude young woman holding a flowering stem in her right hand, her hair upturned into a braided crown, two wavy locks resting on the shoulders, circular base decorated with a foliage scroll, beautifully executed; rotating ring decorated with foliage friezes; blade with beveled back and ricasso also engraved with foliage.

A hunting set with ivory handles from a private collection features the same engraved etching and gilding on the blade ricasso; dated 1564, it is given as French.
