Hubert-Descours went to Paris in 1731, and joined Rigaud's workshop. Descours executed most of his work in Bernay, Normandy. Best known for his portraits and decorative trumeaux, the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Bernay nevertheless preserves a religious subject of the deploration of Christ after Champaigne and Lebrun (inv.1866).
He had a very large clientele, ranging from the elite to local brotherhoods. His compositions are somewhat staid, but show great attention to the rendering of fabrics and accessories, with the hands playing a predominant role.
