Rectangular in shape, with canted uprights underlined by trompe-l'œil fluting, the white marble top encircled by an openwork copper gallery. The front and sides are decorated with a trompe l'œil latticework of lozenges and quatrefoils, framed by gilded bronze moldings. It opens with two leaves surmounted by two curtains revealing five drawers. Tapered legs. H: 97 - W: 121 - D: 42 cm Insulation, wear, restoration The initials on this piece of furniture are those of Roger Van der Cruse dit Lacroix (1728-1799) received Master in 1755. Provenance : Purchased from Galerie Miche Meyer in February 1981 Related work A secrétaire à vantaux à rideaux by Roger Van der Cruse, in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, is somewhat similar in silhouette to our piece, with its narrowness and curtained top.
