An impressive gilt wooden Empire style bed carried by four swans with a pair of matching bedside tables with marble tops, 20th C. H 159 - W 246 cm- D 273 cm (the bed) H 85 - L 40 - D 40 cm (the night tables) Ref: - The bed is an exact copy of the bed of Gloria, Dowager Princess of Thurn and Taxis (Mariae Gloria Ferdinanda Joachima Josephine Wilhelmine Huberta, born Countess Gloria von Schonburg-Glauchau, 23 February 1960), a German noblewoman, socialite, businesswoman, Catholic activist, and artist. Through her marriage to Johannes, 11th Prince of Thurn and Taxis, she acquired the courtesy title Princess Consort of Thurn und Taxis (link).Only one other example is known and is part of the patrimony of the famous French actor and film director Jean-Claude Brialy(30 March 1933 - 30 May 2007, link).
