[Joseph BONAPARTE (1768-1844)]. 2 powers of attorney given to Cardinal Fesch, Philadelphia May 8, 1822 and December 18, 1828; 13 fol. pages, stamps, seal under notarial paper; the second in Italian (mottling on the first).
Before Pierre Étienne Du Ponceau, notary public for the Republic of Pennsylvania, Joseph Bonaparte "makes and constitutes his Eminence Monseigneur le Cardinal Fesch, residing in Rome, his general and special procurator, to whom he gives the power, for him and in his name, to manage and administer all his goods and affairs, present and future, throughout Europe [...] To prosecute all trials, proceedings and actions"... etc. The other dispatch gives the Italian version of the document. The other expedition restates in Italian a power of attorney granted to Cardinal Fesch six years later, and bears apostilles signed by Florentine personalities.Attached is a manuscript by Du PONCEAU, Préface de l'ouvrage de M. Sismondi (3p. in-4).
