SPAIN. CHARLES II (1661-1700). P.S. (griffe), Madrid July 22, 1693; countersigned by Count de Canillas; quire of 7pages in-4 on parchment; in French. Letters of nobility with painted coat of arms.Confirmation of the nobility and privileges of the Peellaert family in Flanders, for Pierre Peellaert who behaved as a man of honor and fought bravely against the French at the siege of Saint-Omer and the attack on the fort of Bacque. His arms are "Argent, three pals Gules, on a chief escutcheon Or and Gules, the helmet open and toasted, chimiered with a griffin Sable, mantled to the escutcheon by two griffins Or, with a crown Or on the helmet"... Document registered in Brussels at the Chambre Héraldique, and signed by Joseph Vanden Teene and by the King and Herald Charles Falentin dit Flandres.
