He learns that Paul Valéry "has returned to Paris: please convey to him my affectionate remembrances and to all the other friends in your country who remember me. What has become of the friends of the 1938 European Congress? [...] I learn that none of those I knew closely fell in the war, but that there are many prisoners." He talks about his sons, who are in France; he'd love to see recent, interesting books published in France.
