Important edict for the creation of stockbrokers and bankers.Recalling "the assistance that the agents de change, de banques et marchandises have provided in the course of the last wars and the present one, to the Tresoriers, the entrepreneurs des vivres, des estapes et autres", but that these offices are "of a very modest price, [...] which could diminish the confidence of the public", the King decides to abolish all these offices in order to create new ones: "Nous avons créé et estably, créons et establissons en titre d'office formé, cent seize nos conseillers agens de banque, change, commerce et finances", in Paris (20), Lyon (20), La Rochelle (6), Montpellier (6), Aix, Strasbourg and Metz(5), Rouen (10), Nantes (8), Tours (4), Saint-Malo, Dijon and Bayonne (4), Toulouse and Dieppe (2), Le Havre de Graces and Calais (1), Dunkirk, Rochefort, Rennes and Brest (2), Port-Louis (1), granting them "effective pledges at denier twenty, etc.".
