Philippe Caffieri (1634-1716) was a sculptor and bronzemaker of Italian origin (Naples), who became a naturalized French citizen. He belonged to a dynasty of sculptors who worked for the monarchy and the great princes. He was the first of this dynasty of sculptors, and was called to France in 1660 by Mazarin.
