In-12, pastiche binding (signed Pralon), 18th-century style, full tan mottled calf, ribbed spine, gilt boxes decorated with gilt small irons, gilt title, gilt scrolls on the edges, pebbled endpapers, [24] ff.- 599 pp.- [3] ff. bandeaux, lettrines. 2 old bookplates with stamp, a 3rd modern one. Small scratch on the spine at the level of the title, jaws & corners a little rubbed, fine copy. Rare first edition. Charles Sorel, sieur de Souvigny (1582(?) - 1674) was a French novelist and writer.
