Eleven Near Eastern bronze cloak pins, late 2nd - early 1st millennium B.C.
Eleven cloak pins ranging in length from 5.7 to 20 cm. All with decorated, partly double-conical head or upper shaft decorated by profiling or incising. Four pieces with perforations in the upper shaft for securing to the garment with a thread, two of them with a rectangular cross-section below the round needle head. One piece with an eyelet on the side. Reddish and greenish patina. Individual pieces with minimally corroded surface. Attractive small collection of functional Near Eastern garment jewelry from the early Iron Age.
Provenance: Frankfurt private collection. Acquired in April 2016 at Hermann Historica (auction 73, lot 4532). Previously Rhenish private collection, taken over from the father's estate, acquired by him in the 1960s to 1980s.
