Three Sasanian seals, agate and rock crystal, 4th - 6th century A.D.
Three seals with oval seal plate, two of them with round back with thick hole, one with conical back and thin hole.
1) The largest seal with a thick hole made of brownish, slightly banded agate with high-quality stone carving: a four-legged mythical creature with a bearded human head, wings and a drooping tail. A six-pointed star above the croup. Dimensions 25 x 16 x 18 mm.
2) Another seal of a similar shape made of rock crystal with a tamga symbol (tribal or clan emblem). Measures 17 x 14 x 11 mm.
3) Cone-shaped seal with various linear symbols (crescents, pointed lines with dots). Dimensions 17 x 15 x 21 mm.
Minimal wear without affecting the image areas, the conical seal with a small break at the edge of a drilled hole. Otherwise in very good condition, the image areas in perfect condition.
Provenance: From a southern German private collection, acquired in the 1980s from a Munich art dealer.
